The Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation will host its first-ever HGTC Giving Day on Thursday, April 2, 2026, inviting faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community supporters to come together for a day of impact in support of student success.
HGTC Giving Day is a 24-hour philanthropic initiative designed to expand opportunities for students by supporting scholarships, academic programs, and essential resources that remove barriers to education and workforce advancement.
“This inaugural Giving Day represents the power of our HGTC community coming together with a shared purpose,” said Shannon Detzler, president and CEO of the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation. “Every gift, regardless of size, directly supports our students and helps create pathways to success that change lives.”
Supporters are encouraged to participate in ways that reflect their personal connection to HGTC and its mission. Donors may choose the program, scholarship, or area they would like to support, allowing each gift to align with the causes that matter most to them.
In addition to making a gift, members of the HGTC community are encouraged to serve as Giving Day ambassadors by helping spread the word and inspire others to participate. By sharing messages through personal and professional networks and engaging on social media, supporters can help build awareness and momentum throughout the day.
HGTC Giving Day highlights three meaningful ways to participate:
Invest by making a gift to support HGTC students and programs.
Inspire by encouraging classmates, colleagues, alumni, and friends to give.
Impact by liking, sharing, and posting about Giving Day on social media.
To further amplify the impact of Giving Day, a private donor has committed a $10,000 matching gift. Donations made during HGTC Giving Day will be matched dollar for dollar while matching funds remain available, doubling the impact of every contribution.
“This is more than a fundraising effort,” Detzler said. “It is an opportunity to demonstrate what makes HGTC special. Our community is committed to opening doors, removing barriers, and creating meaningful opportunities for our students.”
The Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation supports the mission of Horry-Georgetown Technical College by providing resources that enhance student success, promote academic excellence, and strengthen workforce development across our region.
