This annual scholarship was established in 2026 by the Vernon family in loving memory of Murray Vernon, Sr. He was a Provost on the Georgetown Campus of HGTC and had a long career in education, beginning as a classroom instructor and serving the community in various capacities for the advancement in education and improving the quality of life, before retiring in 2012.
1) Must be a graduate of a public high school in either Horry or Georgetown County.
2) Must be a resident of either Horry or Georgetown County.
3) Must be a full-time student.
3) Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75.
3) Must have graduated high school in good standing.
3) Must show a financial need.
3) Must be committed to community service.
