As Chair of the HGTC Foundation, Martha Lewis is honored to share the profound impact of your support on our students and community. Through your generosity, HGTC continues to be a vital bridge to opportunity and a beacon of innovation and success.
As Chair of the HGTC Foundation, I am pleased to connect with you and share about the Foundation and how it benefits from your generosity.
In my work life I have had opportunities to meet people from all sorts of backgrounds. Some were college graduates or are well versed in their trade. The folks who fascinate me though, are those who were and are smart, clever, and hardworking. They usually have a great attitude even as they face burdens trying to improve their life and income status. I bet you know them too; when you stop and think about it. The receptionist who is always responsive, smart, and kind, but who can’t advance without more education. The electric worker who seems to know everything but can’t go out on his own because he isn’t certified. The young or older person who will start with a few classes but with help can use a bridge program and end up with a larger degree.
These examples and plenty of others are what inspires me to be involved with HGTC Foundation. Of course, a student has pride when someone sees their value, attitude, and work effort. This is important, but as important, is the financial reward that comes with a new degree or certification. This is often life changing for a family, allowing better living conditions, education, and mobility for the entire family, if that is what they want; or maybe it’s just the security of knowing they have some cushion, if they need it. Not worrying all the time about money or a job is something many of us take for granted. We can all help make this happen for those students through this Foundation.
HGTC Foundation helps our community with needs and services and these students by funding programs (examples include electrical lineman; tool learning; nursing; boat building etc). It helps fund renovations to buildings such as the old Air Force Gym converted into a simulation lab for nursing. The Foundation helps purchase equipment for training in these and other programs. Students have a 9?% job placement rate and HGTC helps them on the customer service side too, so they are ready to work.
The generosity of our community has already impacted HGTC and its programs in many ways. The need continues and I invite you to participate through giving to HGTC Foundation.
HGTC helps with resources, scholarships and support as students reach for their dreams and work to better their lives.
The entire HGTC Board, Foundation Staff and certainly the students are grateful for the support we have been given and the support yet to come.
Thank you for seeing these talented, hardworking people who just need a little help to step up and out in life. They will improve their and their families lift and help our community meet emerging needs.
With deepest appreciation,
Martha Lewis
