HGTC Foundation Partners with Lowcountry Food Bank and HTC to Host “Fresh For All” Food Distribution March 13

The Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation, in partnership with the Lowcountry Food Bank, will host a Fresh For All food distribution on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the HGTC Grand Strand Campus outside the Foundation Office in Building 300.

This free, farmers market-style distribution will provide each participating household with 10 to 20 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables at no cost. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, and community members are encouraged to bring their own bags.

The event is open to HGTC students, employees, and the public. Guests are also welcome to pick up food for neighbors, friends, or loved ones who may be unable to attend.

This event reflects the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation’s continued commitment to addressing food insecurity among students and families throughout the region. Through strategic community partnerships, the Foundation is expanding access to healthy food and essential resources for those who need it most.

Earlier this year, the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation named HTC Inc. the official community partner of the HGTC Market, which supports students across all three campuses with access to nonperishable food items, hygiene products, and other basic necessities. Together, these efforts help remove barriers that impact student success both inside and outside the classroom.

“We are grateful to partner with the Lowcountry Food Bank to bring fresh, healthy food directly to our Grand Strand Campus,” said Shannon Detzler, president and CEO of the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation. “This Fresh For All event helps ensure that our students and community members have the support they need not only in the classroom, but also in their daily lives. Access to nutritious food is essential to a student’s ability to learn, focus, and thrive, and this outreach is a powerful example of how community partnerships can change lives.”

Fresh For All events empower neighbors by offering a variety of fresh produce options at no cost, along with recipes and educational materials provided by the Lowcountry Food Bank to help households select, store, and prepare nutritious foods.

Food insecurity remains a significant challenge across South Carolina, including here in Horry County, where thousands of residents face barriers to accessing affordable, nutritious food. Fresh For All distributions help close that gap by bringing healthy food directly into communities and expanding access to fresh produce for individuals and families.

The Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation plans to continue hosting Fresh For All distributions quarterly, with the potential to expand based on community response and need.
