This annual scholarship was established in 2022 by 1-800-BOARDUP M.B. This scholarship is to honor the memory of Jacob Hancher who was a police officer, a firefighter, and a servant to his community in uniform and faith. He devoted his life to service, sometimes finishing a shift at Myrtle Beach Police Department and heading to a call for help as a volunteer firefighter. Hancher attended mission trips with his church and was an honest friend who never gave up. Jacob Hancher made a difference in the lives of everyone he met. Tragically, he was shot and killed on October 3, 2020, answering a call for help.
1) Must be a graduate of a Horry County High School.
2) Must be a resident of Horry County.
3) Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
