HGTC is enhancing its marine technology education by expanding the exclusive Marine Technology Program to the Georgetown Campus.
The Marine Technology Program at HGTC, set to expand to the Georgetown campus, provides specialized training based on Yamaha’s expert curriculum. This program, unique in the state, is poised to double its training capacity for certified marine technicians due to increasing industry demands. The program’s growth is underpinned by a substantial $200,000 grant from the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission, allocated to develop the new Marine Technology Center.
Scheduled to commence construction in 2025, this advanced facility will focus on outboard marine and boat building technologies, equipping students with cutting-edge skills. The expansion not only aims to enhance HGTC’s educational offerings but also reinforces its leadership in maritime vocational education, preparing students to lead in a rapidly evolving industry.
